About the Transparency Act

Transparency Act is the short name for ‘Act relating to enterprises’ transparency and work on fundamental human rights and decent working conditions which entered into force in Norway on July 1st, 2022.

The objective of the law is to promote enterprises’ respect for fundamental human rights and decent working conditions in relation to production of goods and services, and to ensure the publics’ right to information about how enterprises handle negative consequences for fundamental human rights and decent working conditions. The act builds on OECDs guidelines for multinational companies.

An important part of the requirements in the Transparency Act is the requirement to conduct a due diligence assessment on suppliers and sub-contractors. A key part of the due diligence assessment is to anchor accountability at the top of the enterprise, to map and assess potential negative impacts, to implement suitable measures and oversee results, to communicate with affected stakeholders and to assess the need for compensation for damages.

The Transparency Act in WoolLand

For Dale of Norway it is important to act as a responsible enterprise. We know that all trade with goods and services implies different types of risks. All our suppliers must sign our Code of Conduct which is based on the guidelines from OECD.

We wish the Transparency Act welcome and take our responsibility seriously. As soon as we were familiar with the new act, we started working to ensure that we as a producer and brand live up to the requirements and expectations that the act implies.
